Here’s a glimpse into how we built several NFT collections for different game development studios.
When play-to-earn games were becoming increasingly popular, game development companies had clients who would ask them to create games with NFTs.

The problem was that game dev studios usually had hands-on experience with game development but knew little-to-nothing about blockchain or how to integrate NFTs into their games.
Background: Why do game developers need NFT collections?
  • Create an NFT collection that would be popular among players.
  • Have a sustainable NFT game economy (allow users to trade NFTs).
  • Implement the main features of NFTs (uniqueness, scarcity, authenticity).
Our game dev client wanted to achieve several goals:
Creating an NFT collection is not a development-only project. To make sure that it is successful among players, it needs to be eye-catching and seamlessly complement the game's aesthetics.

For this project, we had to hire several designers who would create art that was then used for NFTs.

We also had to think about the mechanics behind the game economy: which NFTs were scarce, which ones were more ubiquitous, which ones were completely unique, and which ones were unique only inside their groups.

These non-development tasks added an extra layer of complexity to this project.
We faced a challenge

We first put a lot of effort and thought into developing the game economy and the scarcity of particular NFTs. Then we employed a team of art designers, illustrators, animation experts, and 3D modeling specialists who created art for the NFT collection that was later uploaded to the distributed registry.
To meet the client’s requirements, we did several things:
  • used smart contracts for NFTs (smart contracts acted as holders)
  • allowed game developers to issue NFTs on their own
  • implemented all the usual NFT features, such as the transfer of ownership

Despite the business complexity of this project, it required only 1 blockchain developer.
What we did
Benefits
  • Game developers are now able to issue NFTs without external help.
  • All the work was done by external contractors provided through our outstaffing services. Internal team members were able to focus on the game-related tasks.
  • Players can trade their NFTs. Some of them are unique and scarce. All of these details make the game economy very sustainable
Here are a few benefits of the developed solution:
